We Support Through Awards

Since its establishment in 1996, the Queen Mathilde Cultural Fund has found various ways to fulfill its mandate to support arts and culture, especially where it is under pressure in Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Caribbean and Eastern Europe.

A consistent way we have supported, connected and celebrated artists and cultural practitioners is through Queen Mathilde Cultural Awards. We now have a sequence of three categories of Queen Mathilde Cultural Awards that are designed to support artists and cultural practitioners in different ways at crucial stages in their professional careers.

Through our Exchanges Programme, we link Award recipients with each other and with Belgian and international counterparts in ways that can mutually widen horizons and enhance professional growth.

In 2021, the final activities of the Queen Mathilde Cultural Fund’s Next Generation Programme are taking place. For more information on various activities and partners under that extended 3-year programme, click here.
